In 1995, Dr. Petrie was awarded the Colorado Family Physician of the Year. Not surprisingly as he travels on medical missions to Honduras and Tanzania in between seeing his large patient population in Eagle County, or speaking about his published articles on Family Centered Maternity Care.

Dr. Petrie and his wife, Martha, have lived in Eagle County for 31 years and have raised two adult children here. He became a grandfather in 2010. Recreation for him includes hiking, snowshoeing, amateur astronomy, H.O. scale model railroading, adult Sunday School teaching and traveling with Martha.

“On my road to choosing medicine, I was touring a hospital research lab with an eye to becoming a chemical engineer. A pediatrician took me on ward rounds and I never looked back”. He specializes in family medicine, with particular interest in maternity and newborn care.
