Travel Consults

Travel plans are amongst the most enjoyable things to anticipate! Don’t forget that certain travel requires some medical planning. A visit with your primary care physician can be an important component of your plans.

Don’t wait until the last minute!!

Immunizations or vaccinations are necessary before traveling to some countries. Prophylactic medications, current medications, and a first aid kit of sorts may be recommended. Check with your insurance company to see if Travel Consults are part of your benefits. If your insurance does not cover these consultations, payment is expected at the time of service. The physicians and staff at Colorado Mountain Medical wish you a happy, healthy, and safe trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should I begin preparations to travel abroad?
A: Ideally, you should contact our office for a travel consultation 4 - 6 weeks before your expected dates of travel.
Q: What about my medications that I'll need while away?
A: You should consult with your provider regarding your medications; circumstances differ based on your destination, how long you'll be away, etc.
Q: Is there a way for me to bring my medical records with me?
A: We have a number of options for transporting your medical records. The most popular and secure way is to contact our offices for a USB thumb drive containing your records. We'll password-protect your data, and can fit all your family's information onto one drive. If there's an emergency, any computer can be used to access your files {as long as the correct password is provided}. The cost for a 1GB drive is $20, and each patient's information to be added to the drive is an additional $10.
Q: What can I do to prepare for healthcare needs abroad?
A: Travelers should carry claim forms and a copy of their insurance policy card, if their insurance policy does provide coverage abroad.
